On offer is this lovely antique candle holder. The original silver plating has extensively worn away exposing the base nickel silver (brassy tone), areas still remain creating a nice contrast; light scuffs and scratches commensurate with age as well as blackened tarnish build-up in all the grooves but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.
It's of traditional form, the base beautifully decorated with a ribbed / grooved design which displays ever so well still. The candle holder itself is fixed in position and central to the base.
The underside shows silver plating still and around the edge is an area of solder residue where the handle would've been attached.
Marked for Mappin Webb & Co of London and Sheffield, circa first quarter of the 20th century.
It measures 16.5cm (6 and 1/2 inches) in outer base diameter, by 7cm (2 and 3/4 inches) in outer height - the candle holder itself has an inner diameter of 25mm - and despite the many condition issues raised is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
The postage quote is for a Royal Mail tracked and insured service.
