This is an antique 12" bisque Kewpie doll. Bisque is unglazed porcelain, giving it a matte finish, original Kewpies were often made from this material, especially the German-produced ones in the early 1900s. It has a painted face with the typical side-glancing eyes and rosy cheeks. The arms are jointed and part of a one-piece body that is standing on a painted base, and has small wings on their shoulders. Many antique bisque Kewpies were manufactured in Germany in the 1910s and 1920s.

Kewpie dolls are a brand of collectible dolls created by American cartoonist Rose O’Neill in 1909. They were first produced in Germany in 1912, with subsequent production in the United States using materials like bisque, celluloid, and composition. Known for their chubby cheeks, small wings, and "baby cupid" appearance, the dolls remain popular today in both vintage and modern forms, and their creator used the doll's fame to advocate for women's suffrage.
